Newport had the better of the opening exchanges but good North defence held them at bay. The pressure was relieved with the award of a penalty which North opted to kick for the corner. Newport stole possession and the ball was moved through the backs to run the length of the field to score a converted try. Elliott Murphy got North on the score board with a penalty and then North took the lead through a Connor Nicholls try after Zac Xiourouppa had charged down an attempted clearance. The lead was further extended when Nicholls picked up at the base of a scrum to feed Gareth Bladen who put Will Biddell in for a good score out wide. Port hit back with two tries, one being converted to lead 19 - 13 at the break
Bridgnorth started the second half well and hooker Luis Evitt came close to scoring but was held up just short of the Newport line. Further Newport pressure resulted in North winger Josh Winfield being sin binned for a deliberate knock on. Port took advantage to score 2 further tries and earn a bonus point before skipper Jonah Boyce pulled a score back for North with a try under the posts, Murphy's conversion making the score 33 - 20 in the hosts favour. North searched for a consolation try bonus point but a yellow card for Nicholls in the dying moments ended any hope of a fourth try and port added a final try to run out worthy winners 38 - 20.
Next week Bridgnorth hold their ladies day and host Nuneaton at the EDG.
