North opened the scoring from the kick off with Jordan Burgess finishing well after good inter play between backs and forwards, Elliott Murphy converting. Luis Evitt then extended the lead with a try and North looked set for a dominant performance leading 12 - 0 after just 5 minutes. Paviors responded to hit back with a try from their fly half who then proceeded to miss the fairly simple conversion. A succession of penalties conceded by Bridgnorth allowed Paviors to gain momentum and score two converted tries to take the lead. An interception then saw Paviors run the length of the field to secure a try bonus point after only 30 minutes, the conversion attempt again being missed. Ben Rochelle responded with a try which Murphy converted to see the home side trail 24 - 19 at the break.
Early in the second half Evitt was sin binned for a deliberate knock on and Paviors took advantage to score out wide to extend their lead. Evitt returned before George Newman powered over from a line out move to narrow the deficit and earn his side a bonus point with a converted try. A strong run from Gareth Bladen gave Will Biddell the opportunity to cross to restore the lead for the hosts and a collapsed scrum in front of the posts allowed Murphy to extend the lead with a penalty. Slick handling from the dangerous Paviors backs saw a score out wide which went unconverted to bring the scores level. North pressed forward in the closing stages but we’re unable to regain the lead and the game ended at 34 points apiece. The corresponding positions in the league table would suggest this was an opportunity missed by North but in reality the home side will be relieved that having been out scored 6 tries to 5 that the Paviors kicker had an off day with the boot.
Next week North travel to Sanbach who sit one place below them in the league standings.
