Nuneaton RFC Ltd

24 - 12

(HT 10-0)

Bridgnorth RFC

Bridgnorth kicked off with a strong wind in their favour but it was the hosts who struck first with a converted try. The visitors struggled to create any clear cut scoring opportunities and losing scrum half Conor Barker with a hamstring injury meant a reshuffle in the backs with James Barham coming on. Jordan Burgess came close to scoring but was held up over the line and it was Nuns who should have extended their lead just before half time but a knock on thwarted a try scoring opportunity with the try line beckoning. The half finished 7-0 in favour of the hosts.

The difficult task of playing against the wind was made harder when a scrum infringement resulted in a penalty which the hosts fly half converted to extend the lead. Bridgnorth looked to have secured good possession from a line out close to their line but lost possession and Nuns increased the lead to 17-0 with a converted try. North then enjoyed their best period of the game and following a good catch and drive from a lineout Marley Finn was able to sprint in at the corner for an unconverted score. Nuns then bagged their third try, the impressive fly half again slotting the conversion in the difficult conditions. From the restart Marley Finn completed the scoring with another moment of individual skill, fielding a kick in his own half he spotted a gap in the visitors defence to touch down under the posts, Murphy converted to make the full time score 24-12.

Other results in the league meant that North remain in fourth spot, a break next week is followed by Bridgnorth hosting bottom side Oundle on 5th March
