Dear Member
PATRONS AND DONORS PROGRAMME
For those of you who have recently visited the EDG you will be aware that we have commenced the building of our New Clubhouse and in order to fund this we have taken out an interest free loan of circa £1 million generously provided to us by a Vice President and further funds will come from the sale of our existing premises comprising the Bull on Bridge Street which has been our home for over four decades. However, this is unlikely to cover all of the costs.
Firstly, we will have to repay the loan over a period of up to twenty years at the rate of circa £50,000 per annum. This will have to come from the income we generate which is a substantial part of any profits produced from our various events, member contributions, running the beer garden in the Summer to name a few.
Secondly, we have little or no contingency fund for any cost increases that are likely to occur in this inflationary period.
You may also be asking what grants are available to achieve this and although we are pursuing a number of options in the sporting and community grant arena progress has been difficult since there are so few grants available that we will have to treat any success in this area as an unexpected windfall.
We therefore need to raise additional funds in order to reduce the amount of the loan and to meet any cost increases that may occur.
You will be contacted with the details of the Patrons and Donors Programme by one of the Fund Raising team which is spearheaded by one of our Past Chairmen and current VP Harold Hill assisted by the President Alun Stoll, Miles Caine from our M and J’s and myself or others who may be appointed. If you have not been contacted by the time the season commences and wish to donate please contact any of the above named directly who will be happy to meet with you to arrange for your donation to be made. Please give generously for the future of Bridgnorth Rugby Club.
Yours sincerely
James R Graham
