Our wonderful New Clubhouse!

The initial inspection on Friday last went well with a number of outstanding items identified which are now being worked on for completion by the end of this week when BRFC will then be able to occupy the New Clubhouse.

The demolition and removal of the Old Pavilion and associated structures will take place later this year after some rugby matches and other pre booked events have taken place requiring the use of the existing marquee and associated bar facilities.

This would therefore also be a suitable opportunity to thank a number of the principal players.

Special thanks go to Steve Farrell for his continued work as Project Manager in managing and coordinating the Works on our behalf. Steve has provided his time and skills to us free gratis and we are very grateful to him for all the work he has done in bringing this building to completion.

Although there have been some delays for various reasons including the site being flooded on three separate occasions our thanks also to our Contractor BFG where Tom Flashman, Tim George and Rory Craig and all their team together with their sub-contractors and suppliers who have built for us at BRFC and the whole Community a Clubhouse of which we can be very proud.

In order to complete the works and minimise the costs to the Club a number of final fit out activities are being carried out by Steve Farrell, Ian George and a small team of volunteers including Ian Hill and Steve Jones which include bar and kitchen fit out, changing room benches and other changing facilities, painting and decorating, shelving etc. We have also had a great deal of help in completing the works with Vince Jones and his team at AV Birch carrying out the complicated task of managing and installing the hand railing and security fencing to the building.

Our thanks also to our other members who have helped us with storage of materials, transport and logistics, supply of bricks and concrete, external finishes and providing new furnishings for the Clubhouse.

Our thanks go to all of these Members for their contributions to keeping the costs to the Club to a minimum and producing such good quality work.
Members have been busy with the transfer of stock and equipment from the existing facilities to the New Clubhouse and thanks go to all those who have helped out.
Recognition by the Club will be provided in due course to properly thank all the volunteers, patrons and all of our other benefactors for their generous contributions in creating our New Clubhouse.

There will of course still be some work to be done after we take possession of the New Clubhouse which will include the demolition and removal of the Old Pavilion and associated structures, reconfiguring of utilities and the completion of the gravelled areas, seeding, planting, walkways and fencing including the new fencing to the Rowing Club area all of which will augment the New Clubhouse and enhance the experience that our New Clubhouse will offer to Members and the wider Bridgnorth Community. This work will be carried out over the summer period.

Once the teething problems of operating a new building are overcome there will be several opening events to recognise this significant milestone in clubs history. Announcements regarding these events will be made separately inviting Members and their guests to participate and enjoy our New Clubhouse.

None of this would have been possible without the funds to build the New Clubhouse and our thanks go to our VP who has provided a loan on very generous terms for 80% of the cost of the building work the balance having come from the fund raising initiatives through the Patron and Donors, Buy a Brick and other schemes which are still available to members wishing to contribute, along with the sale of our former Clubhouse at The Bull in Bridge Street.

Our warmest thanks to the VP and all who have contributed to the fund raising programmes.
