Dear Valued Player, Manager, Coach, VP, Sponsor, Donor, Employee & Friend
Firstly, our thanks to everyone for your efforts this past season which ensured success and recognition for our rugby club. Whether supporter, player, sponsor, vice president or staff member your contribution throughout the 23/24 season has been much appreciated, not only by the club’s leaders but also by your peers.
We are certain that along with the club’s management team all members will be feeling most proud of the progress and development of BRFC to date and will enjoy taking time to reflect on the fun and pleasures of the past season. Well done to you all.
All of our teams excelled themselves this past season, the M&Js, the Women (in particular, coming 2nd in their league) and the Senior Men, as we learnt at the recent presentations, so huge congratulations to the players, coaches, managers parents, families and physios etc
However, at the time of writing, we are now indebted to our anonymous VP, to the value of circa £1,875,000, which has enabled the completion of our new Club House on the EDG, this being the largest project ever undertaken in the history of BRFC. This loan, which is largely interest free, needs to be returned to the VP ASAP.
Hence, anything you can do to assist BRFC to repay this debt would be hugely appreciated, be that buying a brick, becoming a Patron (Gold, Silver or Bronze), making a donation, becoming a VP or helping out physically. Or you might even consider becoming a regular donator by participating in our soon to be launched 400 Club; more on this to follow in due course.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
AGM–
To be held in our new Club House at 7:30pm on Thursday 25th July 2024 – please make every effort to attend, given some important changes in our Officers.
FORMAL OPENING OF OUR NEW CLUB HOUSE – FRIDAY 16TH AUGUST 2024
Lord Gavin Hamilton has kindly agreed to formally open our new Club House on Friday 16th August 2024 at 2pm, which will be followed by a two-course lunch.
We intend to invite our contractors (the many people involved in creating our impressive new Club House), representatives from important local businesses and voluntary groups, as well as other sports clubs, RFU reps and of course, all of our fabulous members. However, we are limited to 180 guests, so in the words of Fred Pontin, ‘book early, to avoid disappointment’.
Finally, with a note of sadness, but reflecting on so many happy years at BRFC, given both of us are retiring from our roles within BRFC at the forthcoming AGM, we send our very best wishes onto the soon to be elected President and Chair of BRFC – may they enjoy as good a time as we have had at BRFC !
Meantime, we hope you all have a great summer and for the players they keep up their fitness, ready for the new season in September 2024.
Best regards,
Club President - Alun Stoll
Club Chair - Karen Sawbridge
