We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Rhys Pritchard as our new Senior Men's Head Coach.

Rhys joins Bridgnorth RFC following coaching roles with Loughborough University, as well as working as a coach developer and pathway coach with Gloucester Rugby. He steps into the role vacated by Richard Phillips, who departed at the end of last season after three successful years at the club to take up a position with Sale Sharks.

A highly qualified and experienced coach, Rhys completed a Masters in Sports Coaching before becoming one of the first graduates of the Doctorate in Sports Coaching programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University. He is also a Level 4 Welsh Rugby Union certified coach and has worked across multiple levels of the game, coaching in semi-professional rugby since 2019.

Director of Rugby Dan Griffiths said:

"Rhys is a local lad. His name popped up in some conversations, so I reached out to him and he was quite excited about the local opportunity.

He has been coaching at Loughborough Students, which is quite a commute for him, so this fits a lot better. He was actively seeking a head coach role, which we have given him.

He is ready to take the reins completely and put his own stamp on things."

Rhys brings a wealth of experience to the role, having also coached Wales Women's Under-20s and the WRU Development XV during the inaugural Celtic Challenge in 2023.

As preparations continue for the upcoming season, we're excited to welcome Rhys to the club and look forward to seeing his impact both on and off the field.
